4AM Comes Early

My new job started last Monday, and so far so good! It is as the Department of Veteran's Affairs Consolidated Mail Order Facility (CMOP) here in Tucson, and my official title is Planning/Policy/Performance Improvement Pharmacist which is basically a catch-all for everything at the facility. This is a job they have created for me which is amazing, and it turns out I am going to be starting basically learning the job of the Associate Director of the facility. I wasn't really planning on having such a big emphasis on management, but I am more than fine with it. The only problem is that I am following his schedule which happens to be 6AM-2:30PM!! This means I have to leave the house at 5:15AM, so this is taking some getting used to. My new bedtime of 8PM comes early, and so does my alarm going off at 4AM! My wonderful husband has had the coffee set and brewing for me every morning thus far, so that's been very nice. There are so many cool ideas for this job and it is very exciting so I feel very blessed to have this opportunity for so much training and career development opportunities. It's also a great work environment with a lot of neat people. I am also a solid 30 years younger than most of the people I interact with daily, so that's kind of fun too. I have an office that I share for now, but that's really cool to have an office already! We have a JCAHO survey tomorrow which I get to be involved with so that will be interesting. This is a very important healthcare accreditation organization, so it's neat to be able to be involved on the director side so early in my career. Anyway, I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of a big deal!
